Geographically Petit Jean Mountain is outside of Morrilton and an hour’s drive from Little Rock, but a great day trip from all locations since it’s almost in the center of Arkansas. The towering precipice offers commanding views of the river valley and the legend of Petit Jean, a French girl who disguised herself as a cabin boy to sneak to America. Petit Jean is home to the highest waterfall in the state, as well as miles of hiking trails, camping, biking and an automobile museum. Picnic, swimming, hiking, and camping are all available, as well as cabins to rent and an incredible lodge restaurant with gorgeous views of the gorge if you want to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner.
