Garrison Avenue is a street with a history. It was the main road when the city was built, saw the influx of soldier’s, Marshals and Judge Parker’s collection of territory outlaws. It survived gunfights and tornados, and in the past few years, has been rebuilt and rebranded as a downtown destination. One of the draws are giant murals that adorn brick walls. Start at the Fort Smith Convention Center and walk toward Garrison to admire the artwork that stretches two stories high. From Cowboys and Indians to an enigmatic weasel, the art is visual delight and great conversation starter.
